Expanding Horizons

Expanding Horizons- Save the Children

I chose to explore the Save the Children organization because of their belief that "Every child deserves a future" and the initiatives that they take to help the children of the world. From exploring their 2017 report it showed that they reached 155 million children and 237,000 of those children were in the United States.

I also discovered an interesting media release from September 6, 2018 in regards to the children in Syria. With Syria being a war zone and dangerous for the children and families there, Save the Children's programs in "education, protection, health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene have reached over two million children in Syria and in the organization’s responses across the region" (2018). The efforts of this organization are something that I can support and I look forward to seeing the work that they accomplish this year for the world's children.

Expanding Resources

The website/organization that I chose to learn more about and discuss over these next few weeks is the National Association for the Education of Young Children (www.naeyc.org). For first time visitors to the website the home page offers many areas to deepen your knowledge and understanding of the organization and resources available. I chose this organization because I believe in their mission of; "high-quality early learning for all children, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research" (naeyc.org, n.d.). I look forward to diving into the many resources that this organization has to offer and how these resources can benefit my professional career.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your blog!!!
I agree that children are our future and we have to do all that we can to help save them. A little help is better than no help at all.
That was a very interesting media release from Syria and to be able to help children and it was a war zone was amazing.
